Selections of Cally's Poetry
My cousin, Cally Deppen, is a 7th grader who likes to write short stories and poetry; who enjoys playing the violin and piano and spending time with her family and friends. In school she studies French and gets "As" in everything. She also plays soccer, likes swimming, hiking and biking, and most of all,
she loves
her
new,
adorable
puppy!

Sunset
The colors so pretty,
as pretty as a painting;
so pretty that your worries
would fade away
in the shadows so dark and gloomy
make the sunset fade away
and the night rise.
Then out of the night the twinkles of the stars peer out
though the darkness
and light the way for miles.

RAIN

Rain flows silently through the sky
then plop! it lands on the earth,
without a crash or a boom
without a crack or whack,
it is just as silent as life
just as silent as clouds,
clouds like fluffy pillows,
gently touching your head
but alas the sun peeps over the clouds,
the gray, dark, and gloomy clouds
and shines its brightness with the world,
and forever those steps repeat
and forever my poem is true
.

I never really realized how quickly life changes
One minute you're sitting on the swings
The warm sun milking on your skin
Raspberry and blueberry juice dripping all over you
Your white dog racing by your legs
Flowers growing delicately by the fence
Trees being your shady canopy
And bees are your only enemy
You feel like life is a play toy
Wrapped around your finger
And all is good
Until those dreaded two words escaped your parents' mouths
"We're moving"
Your life is hazy
Your garden, dog, and home are gone
You're dad is gone... awaiting your arrival
Your friends had had a big party
All for you
And school is over
You move
New empty house smelling like
house fresheners
New friends you have to make
Life feels empty when winter rolls around
But when spring starts to blossom
And you've made new friends
Your parents tell you you're going back to visit
Back in your old town
And you're happy once again
